My reds feathers. What’s wrong with her

over the last few weeks one of my reds has white feather ends near the neck and the comb doesn’t look a Vibrant Red like the other girls, I’m wondering what’s wrong with her and should I cull or cure her away from the flock

She has been molting and those are new feather shafts coming in. How old is she?

Relax, she is molting, those are new feathers coming in. The comb is just small and pale because during the molt they usually stop laying, so their comb gets smaller.

As others said, it's normal. Eventually the spiky white casing falls off and the feathers fully open up.

the whole flock is only 8 months old, hopefully they'll be ready for a hard Kansas winter, after reading a few post on here we've decided not to heat the coop but weather proof it against drafts but still ventilated. I appreciate your help on the feathers, thank you

More than half of mine molt a bit in their first year, too. Is she acting a bit stand-offish and losing her appetite a bit? I am still surprised at how hard they can take a molt!
