My Resin/plastic coop construction thread :)

Ok finally finished putting wood up on the plastic netting for the door.

Came home and let hens out yesterday to play out front. Made a real door, kinda.
I put up Plastic mesh in the coop as a makeshift door a while ago. It now has wood "edges" so it swings open/shut. Plus made simple small wood slide to hold door shut (think old fashioned potato hutch).

It works and I got to use up a bunch of scrap wood sitting around. Takes longer that way but I got to be outside in the nice crisp Autumn air.
I also put up the plexiglass piece over the door window. You can sort of see on the right of the picture. I had just put up screening before for ventilation in the warm weather and now that it is hitting 30-40's at night I wanted to get it on.

11-5-17. I have noticed that it is nice and warm in the coop in the mornings so the plexiglass on the window make a great insulator .

Means you've reduced your ventilation, and maybe by too much?
Can't remember what other ventilation you have.
Doors always work better with a frame ;)
Looks Good!

Yes it does work so much better with a frame.

Too bad I had to put the wood on while the mesh was still up. There is not a space between the door and right side. Mesh is all attached to wall.

I do need to add a bit more up top in the front. I am waiting on a few days where I will not get any rain to do it and do some caulking around the base on the outside.
I only closed one window. It was not "warm" in the coop, but warmer then it was the morning before. If that makes sense
