My Resin/plastic coop construction thread :)

I have seen those, course you can also use one of those tall plastic basement/utility sinks and just have a bucket under for drainage.
I thought about one of those but I don't have enough room.
I have a jug of water in the coop.

But I have not had to 'clean' any of the hens

I put a double story in mine ... they love it ... got a little ramp installed with treads ... kinda figured out that upstairs is the bedroom ... they all sleep up there every night

sadly I have mareks going through my coop, lost a hen on Saturday, got another who has a tumor blocking her vent, so her days are numbered next time she tries to lay an egg, vet has her on an anti-inflammatory and pain meds to see if we can shrink it. with hopes that the stress of her recent egg removal will maker her stop laying.

Oh that is such a bummer !!!

Do you know who it got in the flock
?
No, we do not, the came from TS as baby chicks we just lost Jamie today, had her euthanized so I have 4 left. my guess if I had to really think about it, back in June Claire started acting off, but she was trying to lay an egg way to young, she was a tad lethargic one day. brought her in for observation, she laid a small egg and I mean small, she seemed fine so put her back out. No issues till mid august except for balloon eggs. that is when black jscks comb and waddles shrunk and its been down hill ever since. just from obsevation, gallis and leary are next, not going to pull um, just going to let it run its course, jenny and murtagh after that as i have seen things there also. In the end I will have a great hen house and no hens

:( very sad.

I can add 2 more hens to my yard per the town laws. But I think I may just hold off and wait till I buy a house in 2 years and then figure out what I am going to do. I would feel so bad to have any die :( :(
I tell you it hurts, alot. I wanted a coop that Mareks can't absorb into, but last few nights have been so cold I had no choice but to put down straw, the girls dove into it and happily made nests. I was hoping I would not have to do that on the coast, but the 8x10 is tough to keep warm and the 4 of them can't do it. Tried to put the ducks in there, that was a no go, they looked at me like I was crazy and headed to the back porch where the normally sleep. was pretty funny. and those ducks can produce heat, but I have concerns that they might hurt my girls.

Ok got some FREE Flagstone at the dump a while ago and finally put them in place. Hope to seed around it at some point but need to contain hens to go that.

Still working on the area in the back yard as you can see. The Green bucket with wood scraps is helping to block the hens from going from that corner of the pond to the gate where the grass starts. 1st pick you can see the wood sheet in the lower right that I use to block the walkway between green bucket and fence.

The terracotta colored large thing next to the shed coop is a Water Barrel that I got from free ;) Next spring I will put gutters on the shed to run into there.

And these are my FART EGGS !!

@aart Those EMT pipes you used on your run, do you thing they would be strong enough to use as the posts? Bury a foot deep, one on each side of the run, bend at 45 angle to meet in the middle ? Then toss netting over the top but have welded wire on the sides?

Just thinking out loud. They seemed like they would be strong enough and WAY cheaper then the green posts here.
