So my ringneck dove sandusky has been picking on my smaller white dove schitz. I just got the white dove today and she has a small deformity on her left foot but other than that he's fine. I'm just curious as of why sanduskys picking on her. I did have to switch their cages out because the one was not mine I was just borrowing. The cage their in isn't very large, but its just temporary, I'm getting a much larger cage in two days.

He's picking on the new dove because it is new and in his territory. Be careful that he does not scalp the new dove. Quarantine would have been a good idea. Divide the pen in half or put them in separate cages so that you can gradually introduce them. The small cage gives the new dove no opportunity to escape.

They settled down with each other two or three days ago and were cuddling and preening eachother, but today the new dove started laughing and flapping her wings at sandusky, my first dove. Does that mean anything?
