I have a Cochin Rooster that may be 8 weeks. he is the oldest of 10 full size cochins and the only one I know is a roo for sure. I am keeping them in the house through winter, or until the youngest birds feather out and can stay outside. I am not going to teach him to crow. there is a rooster about 3 blocks from the house that I hear crow every so often.
I am fine with him not crowing. he churtles like all the others and that is good enough for me.
I could imagine him crowing at 3:30 in the morning. when the wife sleeps till four am and I sleep till six am. thats if I hit the sack by 12 or 1. I would be tempted remove the buggers vocal chords along with his maleness. I cant send him to freezer camp because I promissed I wouldnt.
