I have a rooster with a severe cross beak, he's always been able to eat fine as long as I make up his special, mushy, food, but yesterday he wouldn't eat. I made him some more last night, and he would try to peck at it a bit, but he was never actually touching the food. It looks as though the end of the top half of his beak might have been chipped/ripped? off, and that it might hurt to try and eat. He goes for the food like he's hungry, but he doesn't grab any.
I also noticed it looked almost like he was drooling a bit. I opened his mouth and I can't see anything that might be stuck in there, didn't feel anything stuck in his throat, and he was definitely breathe/ CROW still. ???
If he is hurting, what can i give him to either make the pain go away, or food that he can eat without it hurting? I even gave him a jar of baby food and he wouldn't touch it...
