My rooster was crowing as usual in the coop this morning. My hubby opened the coop at 8 am as usual. Big John jumped out(as usual), took 3 steps and crowed (as usual) then dropped over dead - NOT USUAL! I heard my hubby ask, "You ok, Big John?" I looked out of the barn and saw John laying feet in the air and heard my hubby say, "oh my, I think Big John just died!". I tried CPR but he was dead.

I am so sorry for your loss. My rooster, Foghorn, died this winter out of nowhere, so I know how it feels.

My sympathies to you. Welcome to BYC, sorry that it is under such sad circumstances.

ETA, hope things get better and we will see more of you.
