My rooster hurt his beak and his toes

Well, I have no experience with broken or cracked beaks, and can only refer you to articles to read about them. More pictures clear and close up of his beak would be helpful. Most people with chickens don’t want to spend a ton of money on an avian vet for a chicken. If you have one or even a regular vet who has some experience with chickens, they might be able to help repair the beak. Some beak injuries cannot be fixed. Hopefully others may chime in with advice. I will look for other articles that might be helpful. Here are a few:

Here's a better picture. We can't take him to the vet. He still seems really happy though. He has a lot of energy and loves to run around the yard.

It looks like there is bone protruding from the face over the beak, and a lot of the top beak missing. I would clean it with chlorhexidene and apply some plain antibiotic ointment twice a day. As long as he is active and getting enough to eat and drink, that is a good sign.

I have this. Would it work the same

@Eggcessive
I tried to clean up his beak this morning, and unfortunately I did find a crack. I couldn't get much of the blood off his beak and I was afraid to push down too hard. I swapped his feeder out for a dog bowl, so hopefully it won't hurt as much when he eats. I also gave him half a baby aspirin. I'll try to get some super glue soon and try the tea bag on his beak.

Last night we tried to fix his beak. We decided to cut the end off of a zip tie and use that instead of a tea bag. I've seen this done on TV with a turtle shell and it worked really well. Hopefully it will work on his beak too. The glue stayed put all night and we put on a little more this morning. So far so good.

The zip tie and glue are still holding up. Oreo is eating more than he used to, though he is still a really picky eater. When he wipes his beak on the ground he doesn't do it as carefully. The frostbitten part of his comb fell off and is healing well. The extra skin on one of his toes fell off, but the other toe doesn't look any better. He also has a weird bump on one leg.

Thank you for the update. I hope that he continues to get along well. I would offer some good high protein sources of food (egg, tuna, salmon, canned cat food) and try a little wet chicken feed as his main diet.

His favorite thing is dry cat food. The door to the cat house is really small, but he manages to squeeze through it and get the cat food. He doesn't love all flock. He always eats the peacock food, which has a lot more protein than he should have. Other than that he will only eat watermelon, corn, and the soft part of bread (he's never liked the crust).
