My rooster is dancing at ME!

One of my freerange roosters started doing this recently, the dominant one and oldest. He really only does it when I squat down to talk to him or pick things up... I find it cute. But by the same token I usually ruffle his feathers so he knows that I'm the one who decides how these situations go. Just like with my canines... I'm in charge of the situation.. not them.

I dunno.. I've culled his brothers who had bad attitudes... he's pretty cool and tolerates being held and seems to like his wattles rubbed... so we named him Wattles.

I have no problem with a football kick if he gets outta hand... or replacing him, he already has an understudy

one thing I've noticed about my freeranging roosters is that they can get pretty upset at my boots! If I crowd their space too quickly they freak out and Wattles brothers ended up hating my boots. I'm more careful to walk more slowly when in their immediate personal space so they don't think my boots are attacking them.

My Silkie roo used to do this and I would just pick him and tell him he was the cutest thing. He disliked that alot, like he was saying, "Oh, Mom, you're embarrasing me! Not in front of the girls!" Then he would walk away grunting.

A few months later, he attacked me and it's never been quite the same again. Stop it while you can. Once he makes that one move, he will never be your little guy again, only your frowned-upon run-of-the-mill feather-duster.

He's really nice and lets me pick him up whenever I want: even in front of the girls. I wouldn't think it's a real issue, because he's never even pecked me!

Also, he's fenced in and he only does it when I'm standing next to him near the fence. Does this have anything to do with it???

My roo does the rooster dance at me...Has for a couple of months. I have tried to get him to stop this by shoving him away with my foot and ignoring him. It has yet to work..LOL When I ignore him it gets worse...I guess he likes the hard to get girls..LOL..

i have a rooster that danced, then attacked, after a few times of getting spurred i turned him intio a feather duster and now he moves to the side when i come by, he's the mottled cochin
