My rooster is suddenly acting weird

Your chickens are going to sit on top of the AC unit too, and probably poop on it. Can you rearrange your run so that it AC unit is out side of it?

A cover will probably be enough when you're not using it.

I have an almost 5 month old cockerel who tries the same thing with my pullets. I have a much older cockerel who puts him in his place every time he tries

I wouldn't say it is a sign he will be mean. He is just filled with hormones right now and wants to mate.

You could always put him in rooster jail too. Put the boy in a dog cage, in the run, with food and water, until he calms down

Ok, I do not really have an option on the air conditioner, but I will try to make it more cluttered. What could happen with the air conditioner? I have the top covered, where you can see the fan. Will that help?

That will impede the function of the AC unit, could damage it.

No, raised by humans with the same hens that he is with now. I will try and fix the AC thing. Thanks for the advice!

My run has a place in the corner to sun bath, 2 roosts, a chair ,a feeding station and places to get up high and compost pile in the corner.It looks a mess but keeps them from getting bored.I use leaves for bedding and they scratch around in it all day.

Roosters that can "walk the line" under older roosters make good roosters over a flock!

How long should I let him keep on pulling on there neck feathers until he is just being mean. I will do this, but I would like him to try and get over it himself. Will he do it himself?
