For now. That way they won't forget him. Once you identify all the other cockerels in the bunch you can boot the whole lot into a bachelor run, including him. Update...he spent the night peacefully in the coop with the other chickens but this morning when I let them all out he started causing trouble again. So I put him in a cage until I figure out what to do. I don't thnk I can get rid of him because he's beautiful.
I have one boy out with 2 girls his age(5 months) and 4 girls that are just over 3 months. Every now and then he gets one of the younger girls and they scream. Some feathers flew yesterday before I walked in and broke it up. It's not the norm though. He does not over mate the 2 his age at all. If they try to get away he lets them. The other boy wanted to mate all the time. He is now living in the house until I can build him his own area. I could not part with him.
