My rooster killed a hawk ***Pics***

High Five to Smoke!

Years ago I had a rooster like that - "B.A." (for bad-***). He was a Partridge Cochin and as tough as he was beautiful! We had a problem with ravens trying to steal eggs and chicks and one day I came out to find blood all over the coop and a raven in a corner, still alive, but flat on his back, and somewhat senseless. I'm a softy so I did allow the raven to recuperate and leave on his own power, but no more problems occurred as far as stolen eggs or chicks.

A good protective rooster is worth his weight in gold!

Wow! Sounds like something our White Rock, Cochin or Brahma would never do. They are all heavy as can be sand super tall, coming up to my knees, which is pretty tall. They call for the hens then run away. My 1 pound D'Uccle and 5 pound Phoenix roos are the ones who try protect the hens.

I'd suggest disposing of the carcass quickly. It is illegal to posses feathers or parts of protected migratory species (of which all birds of prey fall under), and doesn't discriminate between naturally or unnaturally killed birds.

That is one tenacious rooster you have, though. He held his own.
$10,000 would buy a lot of chickens.
