My Rooster Needs Help

For the time being I would recommend that you keep him isolated in a cage...

1) It will help him to be clean and dry
2) He is better not exercising until you can determine what is causing his foot to give him so much pain. Rest is good for him right now
3) You can monitor his feed and water intake...as sick birds tend to be bullied at times...

He is very handsome..and lucky to have you too!!!

Thank you, yes he's isolated in a cage with food and water. Now yesterday we washed his feet in hydrogen peroxide with warm water 4 times for a few mins. When i increased the dosage of hydrogen he didn't want to put his feet in which indicated it was burning him. One guy who works in the farm looked at it and said that black spot is dried out blood and his toe swelled up which he's limping on. So our theory is that he might have been injured while it was raining and didn't have time to let it heal properly hence causing his toe to swell up and the blood to dry which hurts him whenever he tries to walk. We cleaned his cage and put him back and he's still just sitting down looking around. Im guessing if we let him rest in that cage with no movements from him, he should heal back up. Sad part is on how weak he is without walking and just being handicapped.

You can take him out of the cage and gently massage his legs...you can have him on your lap without his injured foot touching any surface...I've had chickens with foot injuries and I do massage their legs...mine are happy to lay on their side while I carry this out..I do it several times a day.

Hopefully your boy will start getting himself more mobile once the injury starts to disappear...

There's a woman that has a blog that treats chicken ailments. She has this video on how she took care of her hens bumblefoot. I could never do what she does, but it helps to see what things look like and the options you have. She also has other really interesting things. I found her on Pinterest.

Here's her link.

Interesting blog, but I'm pretty solid my rooster doesn't have bumble foot.
