My Rooster Red

Kinda thought the same. He doesn't have much of a comb but the color is deeper as in roosters of other breeds. Would you know what color their eggs are? One is laying eggs but not sure which since there's also a silver duck wing bantam in the mix and not sure about the sex of it either.

BR? that's no barred rock...?

both are cornish hens, just from hatchery stock. the other poster might be thinking of show stock cornish, which are way, way massive and thick boned but hatcheries don't care about looks, just as long as they roughly look like the claimed breed. I'd go as far as say the cornish are even 'pure hatchery stock dark cornish'.

Both females for sure. variation is due to... guess? hatcheries not having very high standards lol.

I call a BR for the sake of conversation. Having seen pure bred stock I am reluctant to call as such. But that's what I thought I'd bought. Oh well! As for the Cornish they are nice looking pure or not. Hope to eventually start breeding chickens. I like large breeds good egg layers. What breed can I start with?

Educate me, please. What's the difference between a hen and pullet? Or a rooster and cockrel? Is it an age issue?Still learning, as you can tell.

Yep, pretty much! Its one of of those things when you first see it you are like what in the world does that mean and then when you find out you are like ooooooooooooooo. Or at least that is how I was a few years ago.
