My rooster tries to fight me

Thank you so much! I've copied this to a word doc.

Yes, I was giving the treats to the girls, and a few to him, which he passed on to one of the pullets. Will try it the other way for a while. I had never even thought about that.

I wear long sleeves, long pants, gloves, sometimes a hoodie, and ALWAYS my glasses. Today he got me on my lip with his feet, but didn't break the skin.

Thank you again.

Until you perfect the art of 'snatch and grab the rooster', do not put your body in a position that he can reach your face.

My rooster for my free range girls is so sweet. Unless I have on shorts, then he turns into a demon and I have to carry him around like a football while I do chores, he is such a fatso too, literally tires me out carrying him around. I usually carry him until he calms down. Doesn't happen as often as when he was younger, but some days he is just mad for whatever reason. My favorite is when I turn around just as he is running towards me and he stops in his tracks and starts pretending to peck at the ground. One thing for sure, he isn't stupid.

So a few days ago i bought a new lavender orpington rooster to breed my hens and he will randomly come up to me and tru and attack me, i ussually just stick my foot up and let him attack my shoe then u grab him by his legs and hold him upside down for a bit. But i dont know if there is a better way to take care of this and to stop it please help
Does your chicken bite when you pick him up? I have seen two different types of biting, one is vicious and another isn't. Its easy to tame the ones that don't bite.
I recommend a leg cord, and picking him up to pet through out the day, until he gets familiar with you. They sell special made leg cords for roosters on ebay. It makes it easier to catch them.

You should have selected a less aggressive breed of rooster and raised him from a chick yourself.

Orpingtons aren’t known for being particularly aggressive. Also, maybe they didn’t want to raise a chick. Maybe they wanted an already full grown rooster.
If you want an already full grown rooster from an average aggressive breed then you end up in their shoes.
I have the world’s greatest pet rooster I raised myself from a chick so I made him a total pet.
