Does anyone know what this is?
The ends of his toes look dead and the rest looks kinda swollen. He always walks funny, so I always clip his toe nails, I'm always very careful about it, never had a bleeding problem or anything.
I don't know whats wrong or what to do, this little guy is my best friend. He's a Porcelain/White D'uccle.
He's very small and very friendly. When you scratch his back, he rolls over so you can pet his belly. He falls asleep on me all the time. He knows his name, when you call him, he makes noise at you, but he doesn't do it when you call someone else. He's adorable really.
I feel like I am having so many chicken problems lately...it's really bothering me!
I have no idea what this is, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume I should call the vet on Monday....

It almost looks as if the tips of his toes got frozen during the winter. If so, they will dry up and drop off eventually. Try to keep him in a dry clean place until this process is completed. The stilted gait that he is exhibiting is because there is no feeling in the tips of his toes.

Look up some threads on Bumblefoot. It is a little hard to tell from the pic, but the swelling reminds me of pictures of bumblefoot. Just type bumblefoot in the search box at the top right hand side of the page.

I don't know about that, maybe, but I think he might have an infection of some sort or like a fungus.......look up and see if you can soak a chickens foot in epsom salt

Yeah, I wasn't thinking it was bumblefoot, just because it's both feet....my Dad thought it looked like frost bite, I just figured it would have shown itself sooner. I'm very worried about him. I'll try the epsom salt, that sounds like a good idea. He's friendly, he doesn't fight me when I clip his nails or anything...I should probably do that again too. His feet have always looked swollen, but just around the area where he has his extra claws, which I thought was normal. It did warm up here for a bit and then we got some freak snow out of nowhere...maybe the temp drop did it...He's not as fluffy as my other birds....maybe he should move to NC with me when I go...perhaps the climate would be better.

Will he be okay if he loses his toes? He's always walked funny, since I got him. He does better when I clip his nails. I don't really understand, I just always thought he was goofy, like my Sultan hen, she runs funny...I just figured it was breed related, this has me worried though.

Could it be an infection, if so how would I treat any kind of infection?
