My Roosters Hate My Red Coat

I was shocked at the reaction i got yesterday when i entered the coop. My sweet orp roo eyed me angrily and tried to chase me out of the coop. I got the same reaction from my BCM roo this morning. Except a little more serious attempt. I was quite surprised! I took off my coat and threw it on the bench and all was better. Then I picked up the roos... Seriously, the coat?

I noticed in the past that they dont like my slippers. But then I figured it was because my son had thrown them in the roos general direction when he was trying to sleep in and they werent. But now it seems they are funny about certain articles of clothing. They got used to me in shorts and the first time i had long pants on they pecked alittle at me. Same after they got used to my jeans and I wore sweat pants...

Is your Coat bright red?
I have a roo that if my freind comes to help me collect eggs and she is wearing a hat he freaks out and will attack her but if she takes it off he is fine. I wanted her and the chickens to get used to each other cuase she is my sitter if I need her.

Use to have a RIR rooster years ago you could NOT wear anything red around him or he was traveling after you all the time! lol Any other time he was fine but no red jackets!

yep, a real red. I am somewhat relieved tho. Was thinking all my braggin about these sweet boys had given karma an itch. And it was like a bull! hahah. As i was getting out of my coat and holding it to lay it over the bench, my bcmarans was still charging at it.

What is it about the color red? And its not just chickens that hate it.

I can wear anything around my roo as long as I don't wear my gray stretch pants with my pink sweatshirt OR my DH's plaid jacket. He freaks if I wear those.
Do you know that workers in commercial chicken houses have to be careful about the color of their clothes? Certain colors will cause the chickens to pile up and/or die of heart attacks.
My red chores coat will be coming out of the closet soon. Thor can just build a bridge and get over it.

If me or my brother go in my coop my roos will attack our jeans and cowboy boots but my friend can go in in work boots and they wont bother him. idk what it is but he hates my feet lol.
