My roosters have disappeared

I thought about that too, as the polish rooster was a bit of a flogger, but the neighbor knew about him, and Cody really only flogged when he could sneak up on you. He was a bit of a chicken (pardon the pun). The cochin roo was very gentle though. I would think that if the polish flogged the neighbor and he killed him, he would either have told me about it or gotten rid of the evidence. I really believe the former, he's a great guy. Anyhoo, I guess I'll never know.

He said he found him dead of a broken neck right near the coop

That might be consistent with a predator attacking your other bird. If this bird got startled and flew towards (and then crashed into) the coop. Birds easily break their necks by flying directly into things; we have an endless supply of dead sparrows, doves, pigeons and myna birds that crash into our house, usually windows or doors but sometimes into the walls.

It's hard to see your neighbor killing them both but only hiding the evidence for one of them. Sure hope you get to the bottom of it.​
