My roosters lay eggs !!!

My roo sits in the nest too. I told my room mate if he lays an egg, I am hatching me a basilisk. He said it would be a crime not to! So glad to live with folks who not only put up with my chicken crazy, but agree to let me incubate dangerous mythological creatures too.

While I have never owned roos and never seen one in a nest, I will testify to the fact that I have witnessed Linda's (gryeyes) roosters singing the egg song for their hens when the hens lay an egg! Carl and Nugget both do it. I've seen it. Couldn't stop laughing. Crowing one minute, singing the egg song the next.

I like to breed for traits like that, and especially courtship. Often problems like bare backs are caused from a lack of gentlemanly behaviors such as courtship, thus causing forced-matings as well as a lot of chasing.

To me, a male should spend a decent amount of time trilling to girls while they're laying, trying to make nests for them, dance for them, offer them food, etc.
