My 'Ruby' not doing well (not suffering anymore)

I know you said that her fecal test came back negative but could the worms have just not made their way through the body yet? Not trying to defend the vets office just trying to learn as much as I possibly can about ALL things chicken. I am a fairly new chicken mom my I got my girls as just a day or so old chicks back in July. I am SO glad I found the BYC forums.

Glad you know what is wrong with Ruby now I am hoping that she pulls through.

I completely understand for I am new too & still learning. :) I will say that I used to work at a vet & with dogs & cats if you could see worms in their poop then they most likely were infested & a fecal test should show the eggs, many eggs in fact. I don't think it could be that much different for a chicken. There are some cases where a dog could have them & it not show up on a fecal test but that rarely happens. I guess it's possible BUT knowing her timeline of normal poops to the one with 1 worm, I feel there should have been something on that fecal. Also the receptionist checked the fecal so I'm not too sure how trained she was.

Yes BYC is amazing!! I love it!

I wanted to let everyone know that my Ruby girl passed at about 1 this morning. I'm very sad but also relieved that she isn't suffering. I feel like I did so much for her & in the end it wasn't enough.
Thank you to EVERYONE who offered advice & well wishes & for continuing to check on how she was doing.
Hopefully I'll have her as a pet again one day.

I am so sorry for your loss. It is clear that she knew she was loved greatly. Sometimes they don't make it no matter what we do.

I am so very sorry also for your loss - she was very well loved by you and she was endearing to her followers on BYC too....you tried so hard to help her recover, sometimes these awful things just happen - R.I.P. Ruby.

Thinking of you

Suzie
