I ordered some eggs from ebay and they came very well packaged and instead of 10 I got 18. I had to wait a week to set them because my incubator was full. So after a week in they all went and after 3 days nothing, then 5 days and 14 were growing!! Yehaw!! Then came 10 days and only 10 were growing and by day 18 only 7 were viable. So I got one pip yesterday and this morning the chick was dead, another one stopped growing and I suspect another is gone but have left them all in except the pip that died and I spritzed the others as I took it out. So now I have two that pipped today and are peeping and I am hoping desperately that they hatch and hatch healthy. I have only opened the bator twice since I upped the humidity for lockdown. Once to remove the dead chick and once to fill the water wells. Both times I spritz the eggs lightly and got out. Now I have to sit on my hands and hope and pray they make it. I had a perfect hatch last time of 7 in and 7 out who are healthy 3 wk old silkies. I need empathy!!!! Got any stories to share and take my mind off the incubator???

I am so sorry that you are having such troubles with your hatch. I hope that thing will start going better now. So sorry that I don't have any really good stories. I am expecting a hatch this coming Saturday and I set 12 Jersey Giant eggs last night. So I may end up crying on your shoulder next week.

I just went through a hard one. I had 6 Blue Birchen Marans', very rare...none, were ever viable. I spent a lot of money on them too. That is only the second time that this has happened to me in the years that I've been incubating...

Good luck on your others..I now have 8 live babies that I just got ready for lock down..which is tomorrow.

Started with 12. These are EE's. Love them!

This has happened to me a lot with shipped eggs, so now I just kinda expect the losses

In my bator hatching now: I had 7 ancona eggs make ot to lockdown. 2 died after internal PIP. ( sadddddd)....3 are out, 2 are just hanging out. I admit I've assisted them all with hatch. Their membranes are REALLY DRY & THICK, bah. I found the 2 dead, so decided to help to a point where the shell is gone over a portion of the egg and let them hatch out of the membrane on their own. A gut feeling I was going to lose all 7.

Hoping for the best for you!!

I bought 24 fertile eggs from a local farmer and didn't have one even show that something was growing. It wasn't my first hatch so it wasn't from lack of knowledge. There's alot of work turning eggs by hand, making sure the temps and humidity are right I don't know where to get eggs now after reading the horror stories about ebay. Sorry for your loss I can feel your pain.

I'm so sorry! USPS was terrible with my first shipped eggs that i have incubating right now. Packaged wonderfully, but they must have treated them extra crappy because it was marked to treat them gently. KWIM? At first glance it looked like I had a couple with good air cells but after incubating a few days I could see all were detached or busted. I kept going and had 11 progress to day 5. At day 7 I was down to 8. Today on day 11 I have 5 that I can see the chicks moving in. The rest are to the other end of the bator until I HAVE to give up on them, but I'm not holding out much hope.
