My Silkie Hen (Chicken) Has Adopted My Ducklings

My sweet little pet duckling is gone :-(

I called the TSC where I got them and they were surprisingly frank and told me that a very large number of that shipment of Pekins has gotten sick and died. They offered to replace him with what they have in now - Rouens, but I said no thanks. My other little duckling, whom I've named Anabel, seems to be doing great, and I don't want to introduce any germs or stress with a new baby duck coming in. I'm very sad, but now focused on doing everything to keep Anabel from getting sick. Fingers crossed.

I think you should DEFINITELY get a Rouen! They are much hardier ducks than pekins. Your duck will want a ducky friend. Chickens just aren't the same.

I'm so sorry and thankful they were so honest with you, But I do have to agree your duckling will be much happier having one of it's own to cuddle with . Wouldn't hurt to go take a look, plus they would both be about the same size when grown which will be nice too.

I echo the rest, i am so sorry but do get the duck a friend, they will grow and bond together.. and do ducky things nothing will provide what another duck can other than another duck.
