My Silkie is going Broody...what do I do? NEWS

You could do a bunch of things:

1. Let the mother hen hatch the eggs, then see if she protects them and if not, take them away and raise them away from the others.

2. Take her eggs as soon as she lays them and incubate them artificially.

3. Take the chances and don't interfere at all, let her do it naturally.

4. Don't let her hatch the eggs at all, and don't incubate them.

5. Take the chicks as soon as she hatches them and raise them yourself.

In any of these cases, except #4, you would have to give the chicks a heat lamp if it gets down to 2 degrees at night, unless you are keeping the chicks in a box in your house. Personally, I think the best choices are either #2 or #5.
