I have a silkie that I can't figure out if it's a boy or a girl (I'm sure she's a girl, but then I'll look at a post on here and it'll make me think twice about mine). Do roo's always start to try crowing first? My Splash is clucking and making hen type noises, but I'm just not convinced... Maybe I'm just paranoid

Here's a pic of Splash so you can see her. Sorry for the watermelon face

I had this same problem with my Banty Buff Brahma. He ended up being a boy, but didn't start to crow until he was around 14 weeks.

My two 7 week old Banty Ameraucana cockerels, however, are already crowing.

Here are some more pics...

This is the best pic I have of Splash's head... Really no comb or wattles for that matter, and going on 5 months old. Although, the comb is a single rather than the walnut, so don't know if that would make a difference.

Ok... I think I'll stop worrying about it

I just don't want to have to rehome splash... Can't keep too many roos, and I don't want to breed silkies, especially with the wrong comb

Thanks!!
