Well, my son loves animals and hates eating meat but eats it every day. He is almost 14. Is this a good idea and what does he need to eat to get the stuff you get from the meat he does not eat fish so what do i feed him!? THANKS!

A week of beans and he will be back on the meat.

From my perspective......

I congratulate him on making choices. (Not one I would make)

I suggest since he is choosing what not to include in his diet, that he also choose what he needs to add to stay healthy. I would make him do the research and tell you what he needs.

Good luck

thats a great idea! Kudos to him and i think having him research the types of food his body will need is a great way for him to learn about the choices he is making.

If hes almost 14..i'd say that HE needs to do some research first...
Have HIM do an in-depth report about eating vegetarian...WHAT he needs to eat to remain healthy.. what health risks are involved.. etc... etc...
THEN if he can do all that...and still wants to be vegetarian, i'd do whatever you need to do to make sure hes able to remain HEALTHY while doing it...

Since he is in a prime growing time for boys, I'd consult a dr and discuss it with them. I'm sure it can be done but maybe he can give you some pointers

My 14 year old rarely eats meat (because he doesn't like most of it), and has lots of food allergies. Here's his sources of protein:

-walnuts, almonds, pecans
-sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds
-quinoa
-eggs (of course)
-rice cheese
-goat milk, goat yogurt, goat cheese
-lentils, split peas, beans

Sometimes: bacon (when I can afford it)
Rarely: chicken, turkey, gluten-free fish sticks
Never: beef

My son does take a capsule of fish oil each night, plus a multi-vitamin. Offer a variety of sources of protein, and he'll be fine. Americans eat too much meat and protein anyway.
