I have so thrilled right now, I sitting in the recliner, typing on the computer with JuJu, my keet preening it self on my shoulder. This is so cool. I have been trying to tame him and I guess it is working.

I open the door to my brooder, where I have 6 chickens and 17 keets. It's hilarious - all the chickens run TO me and all the keets run far far away and huddle in a corner with heads all sticking up ... AXE MURDERER IS HERE! EEEEEP!

They'll approach if I have good food as long as I make no sudden moves.

So I am jealous too.

Maybe you can give us some tips on taming keets. Mine aren't as bad as they used to be but they aren't exactly friendly either lol. I would love it if they sat on my shoulder or even my arm and snuggled. Yours looks really content sitting there

he was one of my incubator babies, 2 out of 20 that made it. The two have been inside the house since they hatched, they were in a brooder placed in a high traffic area so they were used to people walking by,a dog, cats, and a parrot ina cage next to them. I was picking JuJu and the other up at least once a day if not more. Well I moved them out to a cage on the front porch to get them used to being outdoors, well the older guineas were curious about them and would visit. After about a week of this I opened the cage doos to see if they would join the older ones. WRONG!! The older ones terrorized the little guys, I got JuJu easily but the other on ran into the woods, I spent an hour or more trying to find it but no luck. I guss since JuJu is all alone he has kinda bonded with me. He doesn't really like to be picked up but once I do then sit him on my shoulder or arm he calms down and sits and grooms himself. He will stay that way while I am on the computer and eventually go to sleep on me. Sleeps and preens. I only did things I had read other people here were doing except for trying to turn them out with the older ones, that was my stupid mistake. The only thing now is what do I do with a guinea inside the house?
