i am tired of getting 'solicitation' e-mails sent to me and my family (including my children).

this morning someone sent me a 'pyramid' program for saving receipts. when i replied and asked how they got my name, they responded, "i sent it to everyone on my aunt's email that she sent us." ugh.

people send me fifteen forwarded jokes etc. a day, but not one personal e-mail. i appreciate the thoughts, but just hide my address! (and i have many friends who send both, and we communicate very much over the net, so i am not 'poo-pooing the forwards)

my 11 year old (whose b'day is today!) told me that she has to get her g'pa to STOP sending her so much stuff, that it is clogging her e-mail.

i am tired of people not using their Bcc option and giving our family e-mail addresses out to the world.

sent this today to my entire list. am i out of my mind or was i inline here?

Good morning my friends and family!

i am sending this e-mail to everyone on my list. it is not directed at one person or group of people in any way.

common courtesy when sending mass e-mail or forwarding messages is to use your Blind Carbon Copy to hide the e-mail addresses of those on the list.
click on your Bcc option to do so. if you are still not sure on how to do it, i am more than happy to walk you through it.

i have received numerous e-mails from people i don't know trying to sell me things and what-not that got our addresses from e-mails sent from friends and family. any time you post the addresses openly, anyone who receives that forward sent can access all the e-mails. this is a common courtesy in the internet world that many of us are not aware of or have forgotten, myself included at times.

please respect our (especially our children) safety and privacy. while the intentions are sweet and fun, our children are getting mass e-mail and we are being sent things from sources we don't know and have also dealt with a virus sent this way.

thank you and God bless!

sorry for the long rant. i am usually not a ranter, but gimme a break!!!!!

Agreed. My biggest pet peeve is the ones who say at the bottom "send this to 10 friends or your life will suffer one way or another"

Thanks, friends & family ... for condemning me, since I NEVER send these emails on.

I know how you feel. We recently added a new friend to our email and now we get junk from everyone on thier email list because they send stuff out to everyone and they get our email. So I block them when they send something. On Outlook Express it is pretty easy to do. Click the email letter, click "Message" and then "block sender" and it blocks them.

hey, no kidding! i am a Christian, (not bible thumping here, just a fact) so i super don't appreciate it when other Christians send me Christian e-mail and then it says on the bottom,
'if you aren't ashamed of Me, you'll forward this to blah blah people.'

this is the verse (one of them) that is usually attached:Mark 8:38
If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels."

i have a funny feeling that forwarding email is not what the Lord had in mind.

again, not pushing any 'religion' here. this is just an example and my situation.

i am not ashamed, but i don't have to forward an email. that is a control issue, not a shame issue. it makes people think, 'NOW they will read and forward what I wrote!'

if something is truly important and meaningful, we don't need to add a tag saying...forward or doooooom!

Quote:
Only special ones I do forward those and I do have certain senders which I send dirty jokes (not porno) and others get religious stuff and others get funny stuff. So it is up to you to decide whether to just delete everything from that person and like Misty said, block them.

Yes that is ONE of my pet peeves about that quote, it used to bother me and now it doesnt when I deleted them a few times and nothing has happened. I think its a mind game.

I have to agree, it is aggravating! I sold my donkeys recently due to financial reasons. The person who bought them lives in GA, so I never met her just talked to her by email and phone and they donks were picked up by a transporter. She now sends me all her forwards, jokes, warnings, etc. UGH!! I don't need more junk mail!!

I just delete before reading most forwards. It is the same crap circulating over and over anyway.

well here we are all typing...looks like we all survived not forwarding. amazing, eh?

i wish i could block most of them, but some send things that are important, regular communication.

seriously, i think i delete more than half my email before even opening.

vicki...no kidding...what is up with that! i have had that too. ugh.

do people buy computers to just forward email? maybe we should invent a computer that is used for the sole purpose mentioned. we could make a killing.

that's it! i am livid.

the main offender of my issue got my email and proceeded to send me two forwards without hiding my email.

do i just call her? or just block? i sent a second message asking her not to do it and 12 minutes later, here comes a second forward!

Miss Jayne, time to hit the "block" button! Unfortunately, that may end more than the nuisance junk, but your privacy, your sanity and your wish to be treated with respect are being trampled. I for one applaud your willingness to stand up for yourself!
