Your avatar is one of the most recognizable and admired by me .. he was beautiful!

I don't know Lori...Severus is just confused too. He was not paying any attention to the girls yesterday...they were wandering hither and yon...time will tell.

Ladyhawk...I was stunned when Cyn told me yesterday. I'm so very, very sorry - I know you are heartbroken. HUGS!

Thor was such a huge part of your life, and in the lives of your girls. He was protector, mate, companion and friend to them as well. It's perfectly understandable to me that Thor's sudden departure would leave such a huge void in your life and the lives of the girls. And big holes like that take a painfully long time to fill. Some holes in life are never filled, so special was the departed loved one.

Sometimes I wonder if memories are such a good thing after all. There have been occasions where I wish I could just shut my memories off. Remembering and thinking about the ones I've lost is just so painful, I'd give anything to take a vacation from those memories. But as sure as the sun will come up tomorrow, I do eventually get to the point where the memories are among my most precious possessions. In quiet moments, I pull them out one by one, and savor the love and happiness that is associated with each.

I hope the transition time between wanting to escape the memories, and savoring them, is as brief as possible for you Cetawin, as well as for your lovely little ladies.

I so wish I could have met him. Such a beautiful boy, both inside and out!

It was all too new yesterday. Severus may've thought Thor would come back any minute. I'm sure it will take a few days for the flock dynamics to find a new pattern.
I'm just hoping (praying) that Severus is benevolent in his new duties and not a total tyrant.

Cetawin, I am so sorry. My heart goes out to you and your flock. Thor was a beautiful, gentle giant and a blessing to the entire BYC community. I loved seeing pictures of him and his ladies and heard so many wonderful stories of his kind, protective nature, I think Thor was rooster ambassador of sorts. He certainly is irreplaceable, but his memory lives on with you, your flock and an entire community of folks spread all over this country and the world. Wish I could give these in person, but

Same here -- the thread about his trip to the vet's cracked me up when I was having a pretty rough day. I also loved your photos of him being way too large for your lap but managing to wedge himself there for cuddles anyway. I'm sorry for the loss of a dear animal friend and hope you and your flock are OK.
