My Royal Pom "Pip" is very sick. Two days ago he stopped strutting and wasn't really wanting to eat, he is drinking a lot though. He can't fly and when I tried to set him up on his roost the other night he face planted into the ground. He doesn't have any balance and only has enough energy to get to the water. He has red sores on the corners of his mouth.

I hatched him out myself and would be devastated if I lost him. Any information would be much appreciated!

PS. We don't have any vets around that will see a turkey

If he were mine I would start by doing a thorough exam, weigh him, dust him for mites/lice, worm him with Fenbendazole and probably start him on Baytril if I thought he had a respiratory infection. If not eating, I'd tube feed him, too.

And because he's a turkey, I would start treatment for histomoniasis which is metronidazole 30mg/kg for 5 days.

PS - I think he is probably *very* sick, so you're gonna have to act quick if you want to save him. I hope I'm wrong...
