My trip to Holderreads!!! **Pic heavy, and very long winded (sorry)***

As i mentioned before, i did not get to "walk on" the farm due to biosecurity reasons, most of our time was spent in the driveway. Also about the above post regarding "my unanswered questions" i do not expect everyone to know everything. I needed to know a lot of specific questions about Black East Indies, maybe people just don't have that much experience with BEI's, or "want" to give that kind of information. Fortunately Dave has worked with this particular breed since he was 17, i think hes 63 now, so do the math. He has raised thousands upon thousands of BEI's, and so therefore he knows quite a bit about them. Now i understand the breed alot better, and have many paths to acquire the information i will need in the future. Dave and Millie also told me that i could call them if i needed help in the future. I intend to access that avenue, especially regarding future breeding programs.

It's only a 3 hour drive to Holderread's from here and I'll have a bit of cash this spring, so guess where I'll be going!

I'm glad to see so many pictures of his BEI's. I've been considering them for some time and they are totally beautiful! I'm now sold on my duck breed!

Dad said no more big ducks, but I love them so much. I've considered a small breed. Calls, BEI's, and Mini Silver Appleyards are the three I'm hung up on.

Yes Call ducks, Mini silver appleyards, and BEI's are totally awesome birds!! I just need some mini silvers from them now and ill have all of em!! Little ducks are so cool!! They are great pets, pest control, and their calls are so hilarious!!
As far as picking your breed, follow your heart on that one. I never thought i would like anything more than my BEI's, but i love my new call ducks. My little female is quickly growing on me... She is SO TINY, her squawk is great, and her colors are fantastic!! I will probably get some more call ducks from Holderread in the future, i really want a good quality pair of either butters, or blue fawns, and i really want to either get or make some BLUE east Indies for the future..

WOW, totally makes me want to buy only Holderreads stock. I am going to run out and get that book too. I love hearing stories like this! Thank you so much for sharing. I only wish I lived closer!

I hope you got that new book signed? Dave is the type that wouldn't think of that by his self. I pleaded with Millie to have my replacement copy of THE BOOK OF GEESE signed, It was but I think it was signed by her. BTW she did all the drawings for that first book.

It is always refreshing to hear such an endearing story!...Nice to know there are still passionate people out there that are willing to share what they know!...You were very fortunate to have been one of those people!...Enjoy your beautiful new birds!
