My turkey ran away

Hopefully, lonliness will bring it back. My birds really stress when they're separated from the flock.

Keep a bowl of feed along the run? fencing during the day (assuming the other two are in run during day). Since the turk was in the yard it is probably roosting pretty close at night (I'd take out a spot and check for eyes in the trees). If it is roosting nearby you might be able to get it down and back to the coop, 12wk old shouldn't be in the top of a 60ft. hickory. We would shoot a leader, tied to an arrow. over the branch ours had taken possession of, pull over nylon cord with a empty gallon jug tied to it and slide the sucker along the branch (knock the turks off and into the circle of `spotlight' on the ground - then carry them off). They got the idea pretty quick (only had to be `moved' a couple of times).

We kept ours in the run for 4 months, only letting them range an hour before sundown and only when we were around (still liked to fly up on chimney, but they could be hosed off, or bowled from branches with `bottles'). To herd them, hold 6-8ft. long sticks in hands out to the sides, otherwise moving them becomes a nontrivial task.

i just had to go down to my neighbors (haven't met them before) another neighbor that we did know was riding his bike by and saw me outside with the flock, pulled in and asked me if i was missing one... I looked around the mob of turkeys and best i could say was its possible lol, buggers never stand still for a head count! so off i went with the tame one to call it out... strangely enough it didn't come like they normally would, but i was pretty sure it was mine... caught it brought it home all is well now lol. if it was mine the last time they were out was 2 days ago or so, so don't give up hope

I have 2 baby turkeys 9 guinea keets and 3 chicks all growing up together. For the last week or so I've let them run wild in the yard. They are almost a month old. Well, I came home from the beach yesterday with my daughter (I hardly ever go out) and came home to find a turkey missing. So, I started calling for it with a certain whistle call. I could hear it call back so I got my daughter and she went through the woods to find the baby. Of course while I was calling the other birds decided they were going to call too. To much help so I put them up in their nursery so we could hear. We whistled again and I told my daughter that she is really close..... I could tell by the babies sound. Then I hear again and I told my daughter she was right on top of the baby. Sure enough I hear a squeal........ she was actually right on top of the bird. Stepped on it. The little turkey had it's leg caught in some branches. I was so thrilled that she found the baby turkey I gave her a big kiss. Then I had the baby turkey sleep in the house to make sure it was ok. This morning I put hit back with the others and they were thrilled to have the little one back. They actually stayed in or near the nursery with the baby. I thought that was pretty cool. Yes, I think it has a broken foot so he/she is staying locked up in the pen for a bit. I'm just thrilled to have it back. I hope yours comes back and hangs by the fence with the others. Maybe try and whistle like the babies. That's what I do and it works well.

I have 2 eastern wild turkeys. I let them out to free range and one of them took off. I managed to corner her in some bushes across the street by the liquor store. What can I do to keep them from flying away for good?
