Hello my chicken, Jackie, is usually a very happy girl, she loves to run around and chase flys and be with her sisters. But recently I noticed that she would just be standing still and staring off in the distance.
And the other night she was laying on the coop floor, so I knew immediately that there was something seriously wrong. Her center of gravity is off and she's slightly leaning back. And her balance is not to great. She's been lethargic and not moving really, she won't even walk over to get dried corn from the ground. Her face, comb and waddles are all paler/ dustier in color shes not opening her eyes up 100%. Recently I discovered mites in our flock, but I immediately treated with diatomaceous earth. I really have no clue what's wrong, I have her an Epsom salt bath and massaged her vent area because it is larger than usual, but I don't believe she is egg bound because it has been over 30 hours. p 15902577273591651077587.jpg 15902579127931420153073.jpg lease help any information would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked really well that she hasn't mites on her anymore? under the wings, near the vent, on the leg's feathers...
how is her crop? how are her droppings?
I suggest you to check even the coop for mites: put an hand on the wall on a dark place and then wait and see if your hand is covering of little mites.
Is she laying eggs at the moment?

Last night I think I saw mites on her, I haven't seen her lay any eggs and it's been about 2 days and her bottom is slightly larger than usual and her center of gravity is in her bottom now. Her poop is runny now.

It's very tedious trying to diagnose a sick chicken, especially over the internet having to do it by asking questions and trying to discern clues from a two dimensional photo. So, here are the first questions.

Has she been laying regularly up until you noticed her lethargy? If so, were any eggs unusual?

Has it been suddenly very hot there?

How about rain? Wet? Soggy? Is there a compost pile the chickens like to dig in?

First, I would get some Permethrin 10 spray concentrate, and treat her for the mites, and repeat every 7 days, along with treating the coop, roosts, and nests, after removing all bedding. Gordons or amartins are brands sold for as little as $9 at TSC or online, and can be mixed with water to make many gallons of spray. Follow the inside label for mixing. Ready to use spray, more expensive, is also available.

Since her lower belly sounds enlarged, tell us if it feels squishy or firm. If there is fluid, it might be tight. Internal laying and cancer are very common in hens, and most times we only know what was causing the problem when a necropsy is performed after death. How long ago did she lay an egg?

We have many chickens so I do not know if she was laying well or not before this it's been gradually getting warmer but not hot. It's has been raining on and off for the past couple of weeks. No they don't have a compost pile.

There is a first layer of slightly squishy but then is gets more firm. I would guess that it's been maybe 5 days since she's last laid an egg.

I have doubts after seeing the poop photo that your hen has an egg issue. If your chickens spend a lot of time outside the run, coccidiosis is a possibility due to your wet conditions. That poop could be indicative of this parasitical condition. It can also signify a bacterial infection.

It would be justified to treat her with Corid and a broad spectrum antibiotic together. I would also make the treated Corid water available to the entire flock since they all have exposure to the soil.
