Gumbii, the black things are indeed made of rubber. The feathers stick to them as the birds tumble around in the drum. No broken bones yet, but i've only done 10.

Dogfish, I got my plasma cutter on ebay. I believe it is the same deal as the HF cut 40 model.

Bigredfeather, the drum is 55 cm diameter. Should be big enough for up to 3 chickens at a time.

Reveriereptile, I haven't tried turkeys yet, but I've read they pluck quite well in this type of machine (one at the time!). You do, however, have to cut the legs off first, else they get stuck.

I made the plate out of .50" plastic. Drills much easyier and works very good.
