My Very First Emergency: Egg Bound? Pictures Included

My bigger birds get one or two 500mg tablets orally, banties 1/2 to 1 tablet. The calcium gluconate is liquid and I give about 200-300 mg per 2.2 pounds orally. I don't usually have to do it more than once.

Kathy - on the calcium gluconate - how would you measure/dose that in ml's rather then mg? I'm just adding all this info to my "medical book" I keep on chickens!

Quote: The calcium gluconate pictured is 23%, which means there's 230mg calcium per one ml. Does that help?

I've had some problems lately. I have a young hen that will be a year this easter and I've been all through this post and I'm not sure what it is exactly. Diagnosis: She has raw bottom (featherless), slighty discolored vent (purple) but not much. "Swollen" where feathers are gone. I felt the area and can't feel anything hard or sharp. It was hard to get a perfect picture of the spot because she's so lively free ranging in the yard. But something else I discovered, her dropping seemed to have this milky looking substance slightly translucent.
