Even though this was a heartbreaking experience(I lost 3), I love having hatched chicks that I was able to hatch. They seem to bond much quicker with me then buying at the feed store. My hens from the hatchery/farm store are very friendly too, but took much longer to earn their trust. My hatchlings trusted me from the day they were born!
Anyways, I have mixed breeds. Two are barred EE's and the other BR/RIR mix. Dad was barred rock. I'd love to do mix breeds in the future and buy real Americana blue eggs(blue or splash color bird).
