my very own micro farm

The first crows are always the funniest. The Hmong cross started this morning. Took me a minute to figure out it was him but I finally caught him outside the living room window, curiosity chirp chirp. Haha. That was a little over 20 minutes ago, now the the rest of the boys are up and about I do t hear him at all. Lol. Also noticed the tiniest bit of gold on his feathers last night when I was doing a head count. He's going to be one striking g male when hes full grown that's for sure.
In another good turn of things I candled an egg early last night, officially it should be today, there's definitive veining and it's one of the hona eggs, that was intended for the broody who escaped her confines. Huzzah, I'll candle the rest tonight and am hoping for good numbers.

I'm going to do my best not to completely lose it right now but last night when I got home from work I discovered my incubator had been unplugged for essentially my entire shift. Was so frustrated I didn't even bother candling, but I will make an effort tonight. Everything is back on and up to temp and has been since it was discovered tho I unsure of the outcome I will continue to incubate these eggs.

I bet, as long as your overall temp and humidity is within acceptable range through out the rest of the incubation, you'll have a fine hatch. Sometimes Mama broody goes on extended walk-a-bout, and her eggs hatch well.

appreciate the optimism. I finally candled. Plenty of veining. Plenty of clears too. Still some time to go.

Some fun stuff from the weekend.
Wild Turkeys circling the property, about 30 of em. Morning and evening on opposite neighboring driveways.
More weedeating.
Cooked some ribs up for the 4th.
Also dispatched 2 roosters and 3 drakes which are now waiting patiently at the bottom of the fridge to be bbq'd this coming weekend for my birthday.
Speaking of this weekend a big music festival going on up here and my work is one of only two food booths there, should be fun.
New baby is closing in, a month left. I'm seriously on pins and needles, so much to do and never enough time. I'm sure I could shave a little extra from my sleep schedule
