You know following your posts I realized I never did a blog about my silkies! I write about them all the time on here so I just always assumed they were on my blog as well!

Kelso looks like she is pouting! Not so happy about having the throne pulled out from under her.

Glad I could be helpful. And yes Burgler is pouting, not the happiest about Rosco taking over even tho he is doing a fine job and in such a short amount of time. It hasn't even been a week yet. Really happy he's integrated so well into our flock.
A buddy of mine is up from down south for a few days, he used thelp me out with all kinds of stuff around here. Could a used a hand with the pond. Lol. I'm sure we'll get a few things done while he's over, it'll be nice to get a few games of disc golf in regardless.
Here's the pond finished digging til concrete.

.I'll tell you what tho. If you ever need to do any digging look for a fiskars shovel. Literally the best shovel you can find. And if you break it they will give you another one free and you don't even have to send them the old one. A nice weld to the 1st and I now have two epic shovels.
Put up a simple fence on the back of the house

its really more to encourage them to come around the front of the house in the morning using the front garden( from the pic the other day) as their main path. And here are the green onions in my porch window

seriously one of the easiest things to grow. They'll go forever. Have some on our back deck at work have been growing for two seasons now. Gonna try and fight the cold off now. These mornings are going to be so much easier in the summer.

I am just loving reading this thread of yours attimus. Just brilliant! I am so envious! If I had my time over again I would do all you are doing. Well done!!

Thanks a lot. Glad to see people are actually reading. Put up another green fence up on the border of my property with my buddy today

its not predator proof and the smaller ones could easily jump over it but it seems to be doing its job of keeping them out of the thick undergrowth on the other property. Now I'll need to make some version of the manzeneta they roost in next to a rock on my own property.

Where I am seems to be of some debate here on BYC. I say northern California. Foothills west of Yosemite.
I'm really starting to enjoy these early mornings before the sun, today wasn't nearly as cold. Its so tranquil. Watching all the small wild birds waking just like my own. Watching their sequence of exodus of the coop the last 5 mornings has been interesting and Rosco has tried to get everyone one of them on the way out.
The fencing appears to be doing what I had hoped and we will finish extending it to the road today. Now that they don't have access to that manzanita some old cherry tomato boxes seem to be their new refuge. I still want to build some sort of branch sculpture day roost thing for them to sun on. Feel bad since I cut them off from the real one.
Couple buckets of compost from work to dump. The girls always love digging through it. Ill give em a few days then ill turn it. Both piles are looking great, the main pile is practically usable and about 2 cubic yards. The secondary pile of raw material is already catching up. Needs to hurry up and break down or I need to expand.

I am a little envious of the climate there. Here in North Idaho, myy world is covered in snow. :) It's only a couple of inches, but still, my garden is under a blanket for a couple months more I would guess. The chickens don't like to venture outside their covered run, so they don't get to stretch their legs much at all.

Cool.....you could put your location in your profile, then there would be no debate.

I love Idaho, I used to live an hour out of Boise!
