Why do these have raised tops... whats the purpose of that rather than just the bottom part?

Nayeli they will be to protect my plants from my greedy chickens. They will eventually eat and dig outevery box. I used to have bamboo tied ttogether around them. Didn't last long. And now that this is there permanent home something more long term was needed.

Birdman I like the mini greenhouse idea it would kind of block my own view of the plants too. perhaps in the future with some more planning.

Gonna pick up a roll of wire before work today and start wrapping them tomorrow. Only 2 more full frames before the two big boxes and we're all set.

you can get coated pvc chicken wire...wont rust and lasts a super long time compared to just chicken wire....its alittle bit more expensive...but I think this is what your looking for

Huzza!

Frames are done. Picked up wire and I'll start in the morning. Should also be meeting with @LittleBlu tomorrow in the morning some time so she can check the place out before she let's her ducks go. Things are coming together I'll be able to start planting again once I'm done with the wire. Replenish what's been dug out by the chickens and add a few new items. Its all mostly going to be herbs tho as well as the blueberries and strawberries. Oh and my apricot tree has flowers on it. Funny the thing always looks dead and then bam there it is

Flowers lol no leaves to speak of but ya. Its not even 3 feet tall, had issues with deer the past few years taking the top off it. More plants means more dirt and that means more digging. Always digging. Lol.

I'm not the one that just wormed... what was it you said. 140 birds. And by hand, talk about holy smokes. I think once my daddydo list gets a little smaller and my hen housing gets a little bigger I might have to give one of those coolerbators a try. For now tho working on plans for a broody condo to sit in the central area of their garden run. That is once I finish screening the boxes. Only got 3 done today. Spent a lot of time hands on with the baby cause you know how they are .....well..like babies. I don't think I could ever stop doing something tho, shes the best motivation ive ever had. My worms came in today as well and with great timing. Two days early and right before I had to go to work. Bit of a scramble to get them situated but here they are.

Yup all set and sitting in the pantry. Now that they are here I can go get the rest of the boxes and give my mom back a new canister of oatmeal. And sit and wait....

that's great news...im so excited for you...im ordering more as well...it will take a while maybe a month or more...you can see the time line on my forum for how long it would take...but they should pupate on top...so you got a while...my problem now is I have very few worms now....just all beetles so you can see this will take a good year for them to get really rolling so don't think it will be quick that's for sure...enjoy the worms..looks great if you need help with the coolerbator you can just ask im a click away...if you need to chat I can pm you my number...it might be easier...

Got up nice and early. Have it all screened in past the corner now. Should be done today or early tomorrow. I didnt get the PVC coated stuff. (Small town hardware store and all that) And then to see what i can find in the surrounding nurseries. I can definitely see the long process for the mealworms. And will be ordering a second batch in a month. Now that I have those started though its on to an earthworm box. But one thing at a time no need to get ahead of myself.

2 flats of straw berries(got one flat planted today) 3 six packs of curley parsley(also planted today) 2 six packs of snap peas, not sure where the are going yet. 2 individual marjoram. What I was told was chives but looks more like green onion and we all know I don't need any more of those. Still have 3 sets of root plugs to plant. Haha. 3 different varieties of raspberry to go with the existing one against the back fence and I couldn't pass up on a pink lemonade blueberry bush. Seems like a good start.

Mealworms are doing good, they are very obviously eating the carrots. I see some shell casings so tonight or tomorrow I will sift it.

I was also mistaken on when I was meeting up with the young lady about the ducks, It should be this Thursday. I'll keep my fingers crossed she finds the placed cozy for them.
