Headlamp...one of the number one tools I ever bought.
Use it every night to count chicken before locking coop up.....
......and for many other tasks, the older I get the more I use it.

ETA: get one that has a tilt base.

We all have a headlamp around here.
give one to your daughter when she starts to read on her own or to look at pictures. They will sit in bed for 30-1 hour reading. Thinking they are cool. My boys have a huge love for reading because of the headlamps.
Tress look good! Is that feather meal spread around?
The love the speaker idea. Did you put it in coop or did they find it themselves ?
Hope all is well with everyone !
My first Blue Isbar egg.

I started doing some baking the last few weeks, couple different loaves of bread some roll and a few batches of cookies. It looks like 3rd times a charm with the bread

previous ones weren't ideal. Mostly due to density but these ones came out light and fluffy, that's two loaves of jalepeno and smoked Gouda and a loaf and what's left of rosemary and garlic.

My second batch of cookies turned out really good too. Bacon chocolate chip :)

Finished framing up and wiring another box yesterday.

Now to fill it and that will leave me with another 9 to redo, only 2 left to empty before the space is clear to start fixing it up for the turkeys.

What kind of fruit trees are they?

Bing cherry, Alberta peach, and 3 varients of Asian pear and 4 apple grafted to single trees. Gonna head to the local nursery in the next few days to see what they have or is coming in.

She's already so curious and loves to play with this little magnet flashlight I can only imagine her with a headlamp.
:)
Around the trees is just some pineshavings that the roots were packed in to help keep them moist, figured it wouldn't hurt to just spread em out around it. I did use straight compost when I filled the holes back in around the trees tho. Nice healthy boost to start them off. The speaker boxes got moved into the coop before the weather got to bad, the water would ruin them for sure being super cheap partical board. As many funny spots as they lay they would have found them outside eventually, had to pull another egg from that 6inch gap between my porch and concrete under neath. Great looking egg, looks like the same color as my green one :) my ee's seem to be taking a light break, not as many blues as the initial rush, it is still winter after all so I'm not to worried.

Morning all. Came out to snap this just as the bright oranges were fading.
1st dayback to work, doubt the birds will notice. Finally gonna start putting some wire up around the pond, I'll have to do it in sections as the materials come in.

Caught my two roosters fighting yesterday, didn't even start with them but they were going at it good, gonna have to keep an eye on it or I'll have to trade them off freeranging with the girls. Good thing that hoop coop is so close to being finished, shouldn't take more than a day, hardest part if placing it.

Well had some free time today since the crew remodeling my work is taking a bit longer.
Two sides of framing are up for the duck pond with wire to follow.

How's the fingers working?

This is something I've been asked alot the past few months, having not used my dominant hand for the better part of 2 months I'm happy my fingers work at all, that being said I still can't hold weight on them individually but I can grip a shovel, weird. I also keep finding new things no matter how mundane that used to be so mechanical are now requiring a bit of thought, ie opening a pop top can of anything. They've healed up well tho aside from some residual swelling in the knuckles and the nails are actually growing out. There is still certainly a lingering pain that I'm sure will last a while especially if my ankle is any indication of injury vs time. It's tolerable tho, there's a bit of pain in my palm as well but that's just from extensively using my ring and pinky fingers in lou of the first two.
It does seem to be business as usual around here, still catching up on things but the remodel at work gave me a few needed days and I definitely feel like I'm running at full speed again.

Quote: Full 'new normal' will take some months, once your musculature function evens back out the dexterity will mostly be there too.
The ambidexterity you gained will serve you well down the road, I try to do things with 'both sides' whenever possible.
Glad you're feeling 'back in the saddle'.
