Salad to pair. A spring mix topped with orange segments, toasted almonds, thin sliced red bell pepper, pear, olive enfused goat cheese with a warm Honey mustard Dijon dressing. Thought I had a picture of it, I'll have to get one tonight.

And finished up just before work for the day.

Weather got a little crazy last night and rained for a few hours. Started just as we were closing or the night. Had to call my mom to run over with a tarp to cover the incubator until I got home to move it inside. Got home just in time as the storm moved in to scramble and grab everything and bring it inside. It cleared up before I went to sleep but is overcast again, supposed to rain through the weekend. We'll see.

Been raining cats and dogs all day. Not much outside time and not much progress to anything. One good thing about the rain is the dirt was getting stiff to dig in, problem solved. As per usual chickens hate it. ducks love it.
The Misses came back from the bay area with a new car today, well newer anyways. We've been looking for a little while and she finally found the right one. Upgrading the vehicle for the upgrading family. Now to sell off the old one. Off to end my night. Up early for brunch, salmon cakes with poached eggs as a special.

The rain last night ended up being really bad. Circuit to the pumphouse blew late in the night. Didn't know until early this morning when I was at work and the Misses called. Well the electrician didn't show up to figure out what was going on until I was off work this afternoon. After some repairs water is back up and running. a bit scary considering the singe marks left by the burned out wire to the breaker. Still not 100% those weren't the result from some longer drawn out damage only exasperated by the rain.

Better things that took place included the car yesterday

And bringing home 10 5gal buckets of compost today.

With at least another 10 still pick up.
I actually gave my boss quite a bit of last season's processed dirt(still a little ways to go on it) but he needed it to fill the new planters that got replaced in the front of the restaurant during the remodel. Those are gonna be some happy plants :)

Here's the salmoncakes and eggs I ran this morning.

Always a hit, even on slow days.

I'm also looking at a possible broody duck, I'll check the nest again in the morning. Not up to walking around in the dark right now.
More as I remember.

Just checking in on ya to see how you guys weathered the storms...
it was very wet. That electrical issue I had during it could have been alot worse than it was, like house fire worse. It's all fixed now. and I was greeted by an amazingly bright morning, I always look forward to the time change. So many more hours of daylight.
I made another batch of mayo. Doubled the recipe and used the right tools.
Also made that butter last night and as a byproduct also a small amount of buttermilk.

Here's one more pic. It's of dinner the other night.

Grilled swordfish and asparagus with porcini rissotto. I bring this up because my baby girl ate more than her mom. Lol. Such a spoiled palate and she doesn't even know it :) sauce for fish was; soy, basil, garlic, peanut butter, blackberry jam, dash of Italian and olive oil. A magic bullet works great for these small batches.

The duck is definitely broody and has been marked in the calander. I really don't want to move her, I hear ducks get weird about their nests getting moved.

Did a bit more work on the bator last night. Added some vent holes and finally attached the lid. Required a bit more sanding on the inside once I did. It's running again, I want to see the difference between a cycle outside and on the porch before I decide to move it into the house.

Funny that through the course of typing this post it had become slightly overcast :( was looking forward to a sunny reprieve.
