Just out of curiosity, if you care to share, what's the packaging procedure and cost of lab work?
the break down of packing the bird up was pretty simple, and this was from the receiving office 'bird goes in a plastic bag, bag goes in a box, icepacks are added along with newspaper last thing in is printed standard form'. I happened to have a styrofoam shipping box for mice available so I used that instead of newspaper and a cardboard box. Still got a bunch of icepacks tho. I didn't ship it from the post office directly but a shipping store. They made me fill out a separate FedEx form as they can't be held responsible for shipping a carcass. Davis gave me their FedEx acct. # for the lab so I spent a dollar at the store to have them wrap it. Davis doesn't charge for backyard flock necropsy under a thousand birds, Two birds same day. Only charge I may incrue is the shipping fee that will come directly from Davis. Attimus

Was there any requirements/discussion on how to store the carcass between death and shipping?
Did you call to talk to someone or was this done online?

Wow. I wonder what the shipping from MO would be should I ever need it...the lab charges $120 here for up to 6 birds.
Wonders if they would take birds from out of state? Kinda doubt it, but ya never know.
Would probably depend on where the funding comes from or if there is any.....no funding, you pay I would imagine.

out of state tests are double the instate fees, and the backyard necropsy is only free instate. It's 120$ here for having over 1k birds and having 1-8 tested.

@aartI spoke on the phone with someone, the PDF States cool not frozen and she was insistent on the icepacks in the box. And I didn't ask about duration of time between but it was sent standard overnight as per request, my goal was to get it sent asap.

Here's a copy of the PDF

So I'm getting up early to go feed the neighbors horses for the next 3 days. Still remember from when I was a kid and my mom had a horse, I couldn't even reach the stirrups. Lol. It'll be good for me to get out early and see these big fellas. I'll try and get a few pics over the next couple days.
Should turn in, mornings not far off. Easter weekend is gonna be intense. Busy busy busy at work. Fun specials for brunch. Pork shank tomorrow night.
Opened the pickled eggs. Could have been hotter but they were good, time to adjust the recipe.

Double Yolkers???

Maybe a triple, came from the Welsh so it should be a bit bigger but wowzer it was a whopper.

I could certainly use a few more hours in the day this weekend.

Onwards and upwards
