Song birds have saved my chickens more than once.

We had a small one today that landed in a Boganvea bush and was waiting to get some doves that frequent our yard.

Lilly our Golden Retriever saw it, jumped up, had it in her mouth and then the hawk fought back and got away. Unbelievable.

And yes, i have seen many a blue jay or magpie torment a hawk many times their size to protect their babies.
