My waterer is flooding my coop

The shims helped.the water doesn't come up to the rim anymore but I feel like a portion of the shavings were wet. I'll try getting a new one. I think this one is faulty.

Yup, I agree, it's faulty, and when you get a new one, be sure that the outside and inside fit nicely together.

Is that something if they are older they could figure out how to use or do you need to start them as chicks.

Mine started on nipples at about 15 weeks - they figured it out immediately - chickens like to peck red things.
