my Welsummers won't lay :( But now they do! 31 weeks

My GC Maran that I hatched out on Feb. 21st didn't start laying till last week.

She's laid three eggs and all of them have been HUGE, dark eggs.

Sometimes they just take a little time.

I was especially happy that the wellie laid her first egg in the nesting box, none of this behind the water bucket in the run business. It makes me wonder how a chicken thinks. She's seen three of her flock-mates in the nesting boxes, they must have given her the down low on what was going on :p

But they are now!!!!! I'm pretty sure looking at today and yesterdays eggs that two of my wellies are laying beautiful eggs. Good going girls!

The smaller torpedo shaped eggs in upper left and lower right are for sure the Turken. The lower left from yesterday is the Barnie. The two center are from a new Wellie layer, and the spotty in the upper right is another new Wellie layer. I'm even suspicious that today's blue egg is not from the same hen has yesterdays. Hmmmm, time will tell on that one. So that is 5 hens laying in the past two days and possibly six. Now if our giant Henrietta the Welsummer will lay an egg we'll be 7 for 7! Go Henny.

I can't stop taking pictures of eggs, I've become the crazy egg picture lady. My facebook page is full of them. They are just so wonderfully unique and pretty, and it seems like each hen has a very distinct looking egg.

OK, so that means I have 7 more weeks to wait on mine

Beautiful eggs there, all of them!

Ok so we're heading into the two year wait. It's not going to happen. My wellie looks great but still no eggs. She's from the same source as my 3tumour chicks . They didn't live 9 months. Any ideas ?

Ours finally laid at 36 weeks! I have to say that it was worth the wait since the very first egg was to big to fit into the 'extra large" size egg carton!
