My white leghorn is laying non-white eggs

All my 6 hens were picked out at a feed store by my grandchildren. The only criterion was cuteness & variety. So they could very well be a mixture. I do have 2 identifiable Wyandottes, & 2 EEs. I am glad someone finally believes me, that their earlobes are lime green

My Leghorns combs were flopped over before they even started laying. Your 2 hens are big and kinda bulky. Full grown Leghorns are short skinny runts that can run real fast and fly over 6 feet tall fences lol. Leghorns are very skittish/flighty. I still say yours are mixed White Rock/Leghorn. BTW: I wish I had some mixed hens, they seem to be healthier from what I understand.

Hi! My leghorns are quite trim compared to the BR and others. I agree that Daisy seems kinda thick for a Leghorn. Mine have had floppy crests for several weeks where as the BR's look a lot more like the close-up. What ever she is, it seems she is a good layer!

I'm going with a mix- Leghorns are crazy flighty and have no desire to let a camera get so close!

I went out to take some current photos, & I can now see a difference between Daisy & Sunny (my other "white hen").

Looking at the photos I notice things I never have noticed before:

Sunny has that aggressive-looking comb which is flopping very mildly, see photo below:

Daisy's comb is not like Sunny's, & she is plumper. Daisy is on the left in the photo below - she is actually noticeably bigger than Sunny, though you can't see it in this picture:

After considering all the replies, I think they both have some "rock"in them, with Sunny looking more Leghornish, & Daisy being more rockish.

There's really no reason to even assume they are related, though they are supposed to have been born on the same day, March 9.

Thanks everyone for the thoughtful posts. Really, now I think of it, does daisy look like a leghorn at all? not really. BUT, she does have the same green ears, which must make her somehow related to Sunny, who to my eyes looks very Leghorn-like.

And there are those cream-colored eggs - anyway, I enjoy a little mystery

Back to the green ears, are they considered white?

I have 2 leghorns (they are skinny, fast, flighty and lay white eggs) They have floppy red combs but they started out straight and just recently flopped over. They are about 20 wks old. They have the white (greenish) lobes also. I was given a pullet that was said to be a leghorn (same age) and she never really looked like the other two. She's a White Rock come to find out. She doesn't have the floppy comb, she's less skiddish, plumper, red lobes and lays a brown egg. So.... being as I'm not much into pure breeds or anything and since I kinda like mutts and misfits...I'd have to say that you have two rock/leghorn mix hens...

Aren't chickens fun?!
