My 'World Famous Show Coop'

Happychick,

"but rather than 50% / 50% Hens/Roosters
The 131 chickens I raised last year I had
'mostly $15.00 Hens.'
And that is pretty good".

Yes, it does work!
Just picking the real obviously round eggs resulted in 'mostly' Hens.

Thank you...

From Oregon!!

I also feel that the shape of the egg doesn't tell the sex, more likely the individual chicken's genetics. It would be fun to try it out though! The scientific method requires many tests and also research to rule out anything that could prove it untrue. Theories (like yours) are from observation over time and no real tests to prove otherwise--like old wives tales. However, if this observation leads to more research and if it could be proven true I'd get out your pad and pencil and start saving data because you'd make lots of money from the hatcheries!! Best of luck with the chickens

chickerdoodle,

Chinese have been sexing eggs for thousands of years
and it was a 'Chinese guy' who told me about the technique.
It certainly worked for me and I will always use it.

Y'all,

I remember reading how in the early 20th century
Hatchery's had rows of Chinese sexing eggs.
I don't know how they do it now, but it is easy.
Chinese folks can sex eggs quite well , nearly 100%,
and have been doing it for thousands of years.

I went from 50% Roosters to less than 20%
just by picking out the obviously elongated eggs and eating them.
Sexing eggs is the way to poultry profitability.

Thank you...
