My Wyndotte hen looks like a hen, but........

do you like your wyndottes? We are thinking of getting a wyndotte hen, since our barred rock "hen" became a roo!

At 12 weeks, definite Roo. I have a GLW & that is just what he looked like at 12 weeks. They make beautiful roosters.

4urbanchiks - My Wyandottes are a little standoffish, which is nice with the rooster. He doesn't want to bother with me & stays out of my way, which I am fine with that. The hens are starting to come around at 19 weeks. One of them is my little stalker, however I think she has me confused for a rooster because the second I make eye contact with her she squats. They are very pretty...everyone that comes over likes them the best.

I have a 5 week old GLW (along with 2 Dominiques, 2 EEs and a Silver Laced W. all the same age)

THE GLW is developing much slower especially in the tail feather section. It has really nice detail coloring and we are hoping against hope that is is not a rooster.
I know its early but the GLW sure looks different. As far as behavior, you drop a wrom in the middle of them and 9 out of 10, the GLW will come out of the pile with it.

If it is a rooster, maybe TyrannosaurusChix, you want dibs on 'him'??? I'm one state over and would be willing to drive it out there, it would be worth it to me/wife and 2 girls knowing he would wind up at a good home..(Yes I know early but we'll see as time goes on)

See all the white in the wings? That is a male trait with SLWs. Females don't look like that, in addition to the huge, red comb way too early for a girl.

I would like to start hatching full breds and my husband loves the slw breed. we have 6 laying hens we took in and 4 or 5 ( i really do have to get a tally- he bought them or else id know for sure) that we got as 1 week olds.
