Mypetchicken.com? Is it reliable?

I am a first time chick owner, ordered from MPC so far am very satisfied. They responded well to emails, shipped quickly, and all chicks arrived safely and healthy. I paid for vac and sexing, no idea if sexing is accurate at this point as my chicks are only 4 weeks old today.

Even mypetchicken (who gets their chicks from Meyers by the way) can't guarantee better than 90% accuracy rate on the sexing of chicks. The only thing MPC will do that alot of others won't is sex bantams, but still at the 90% accuracy rate.

Whether to have them vaccinated or not is a personal decision but a good place to start to find the answer to that question is with your local agricultural extension office, usually listed in the government section of the phone book. They will be able to tell you what if any diseases are prevelant where you live.

I received chicks from MPC in June and have been very happy - like someone else said, they are more attractive than I'd expected, and all are healthy so far. I would not hesitate to order from them again and I happily paid for sexing and vaccinations.

I ordered from MPC. I had six Welsummer pullets shipped five weeks ago. They were happy & healthy when they arrived. Of the six, one died in the second week, and another is a rooster, not a pullet, so I ended up with only four pullets.

That said... they are nice looking birds and I would order from them again. . And in case anyone was wondering, they were shipped from Meyer in Ohio, not from MPC in Ct.

My neighbor and I shared an order of 7 chicks, (3 hers, 4 mine). All arrived healthy, all are the girls we ordered. They were hatched Sunday, shipped Monday, and arrived Tuesday. All in all, it was a great ordering experience. Hopefully yours will be too! Good luck!

Same story here! Ordered 6, got 6, to date all are doing great. I'm very happy I did not have to order 25 birds with them and yes I would do business with them again.

Five weeks old today!

We have ordered from My Pet Chicken and been very happy with them. I have an all Bantam flock and did have them sexed, which no one else does with Bantams. I did get a couple of 'accidental' roos, for which both my money was refunded and the chickens were replaced. My larger order of 10 sexed bantam 'feather-footed mix" were spot-on all hens. We don't order large groups at a time and like that you can get small orders. The chickens are beautiful and healthy.

However, when I tried to order a small order of Sultans from Purely Poultry (MPC didn't carry Sultans this year), I was sent 10 LF Barred Rock roos (that were crazy hyper and already beating up the Sultan chicks in the mailing box) which I didn't want, didn't order and were beyond what I could take care of, as I had just had surgery on both arms. I did rehome them all to someone else and all but one has since gone on to freezer camp, but will not order from them again.

Ciao,
My first experience with mypetchicken.com was two years ago. I ordered 8 day old chicks in September 2013 and a week later I ordered 4 day old chicks. I was very happy with my dealings with mypetchicken.com.
Subsequently, I ordered six fertile hatching eggs to place under my broody hen; none of those eggs hatched. I contacted mypetchicken.com and they apologized and issued me a $10.00 credit towards a future order.
Last month I ordered three Bielefelder hatching eggs(not cheap) and three Buff Orpington hatching eggs from my pet chicken.com and redeemed my $10.00 credit. Mypetchicken.com teamed up with a new supplier and my eggs were shipped. Unfortunately, the shipping box was not marked "hold for pick up" and the eggs were placed on the postal carriers truck for delivery. I went to the post office after I had looked up the tracking information and was informed that the box was on the truck for delivery (my house is last on my postal carriers route). I ended up driving the route and found my postal carrier and she gave me the hatching eggs.
I advised mypetchicken.com of the above and informed them that part of the box was damaged but it looked like all the eggs were intact. The eggs were placed in a Brinsea mini advance with eggs turner. I followed all the instructions to a T and after three weeks, two eggs hatched.
I have read many threads online and have found that this is an unacceptable hatching rate. I contacted mypetchicken.com and they apologized and felt that the hatching rate was acceptable and I should look at the troubleshooting guidelines. I canceled the eggs after one and two weeks. Three looked viable and three did not.
I have two Bielefelder chicks and four unhatched eggs.
I have written once again to mypetchicken.com and I am waiting for a response.
