MyPetChicken.com, should we get chicks from them?

Hello! Just wondering, has anyone gotten chicks from Mypetchicken.com? We're thinking about getting four blue orps, so that we get three, (to replace lost hens. RIP Daisy, Scout, and Zoe.) and our friend Christie has been wanting one. Also, they currently have only hatching eggs, so we might have to check elsewhere.



Any comments?

I may be wrong, but I think Meyer hatchery supplies my pet chicken. Check into what they offer. I have ordered from them in the past and been very pleased with their service and health of the chicks. If it matters they are located in northern Ohio. Again, I could be wrong.

I ordered five chicks from MPC a couple months ago and received them three weeks ago. I was very pleased by all of my interactions with them, as well as with the quality of the chicks themselves. I'm in Seattle and we were struck by a snowstorm the week my babies shipped so unfortunately they were on the road in very cold conditions for three days. One of them died as a result. MPC was more than kind and promptly reimbursed me, even though I didn't ask for that.

I would strongly recommend MPC.

I ordered my chicks from mypetchicken, they arrived 5 weeks ago. We ordered 12 chicks in Jan and they were hatched mon feb 27th and i received the call from the post office wed feb 29th at 630am. I picked them up quickly so I could get them home to the warm heat lamp. They all arrived alive healthy and chirping and are turning out to be fantastic little chickens. I would order from them again.

When they ship the chicks to you they will put a heat pack and a gel food source for them to eat in the box with them.

I ordered my 16 from MPC. Costumer service was excellent. I called them to make some changes and it all went off without a hitch. I received 16 very FAT healthy Orpingtons and Australorps. I live in central Texas and they came in on the third day, so they had 2 days of travel. MPC acts as a broker using many different hatcheries as well as their own. This is why you see such a large variety of birds. I didn't hear this from MPC itself, just heard it through the grapevine. But my experience was quite pleasant and I would recommend them highly. Now the cost of all their chicken "Accessories" are through the roof and I would recommend shopping around before ordering any of that stuff.

I can't speak to larger orders, but they were wonderful with our smaller one.

I had to call to change my shipping number (for PO notification). Their response was prompt and, well, they got it done - the PO had the right number this morning

You know, I thought the same way-- I was afraid to order from hatcheries that are farther away from me. So I ordered from the closest one, and it took three days instead of one.
When a hatchery is far from you, and you order express shipping, the chicks get put right on a plane that day and flown to your nearest hub. Sometimes shipping this way can be faster instead of slower! If you are concerned, I bet you could write to them and they could tell you average transit time to your location. Best wishes!!

Wow! Thanks everyone. We'll probably be ordering from them if we can find a 'bator. (I can't make any promises, as I am not the person making this decision.....)
