Has anyone ordered bantams from this hatchery? They told me they are the only hatchery in the country that uses the Vent Sexing method to determine sex for bantam chicks and guarantee 90%.

Any comments?

I ordered from MPC but I did not get bantams. As far as I know, MPC is just a middleman not a hatchery. All of my chicks arrived safely but they are still too young for me to know if they were sexed correctly.

They are not a hatchery, they are a middle man. Usually hatcheries have good sexing rates with only a really small percentage if any being males in a pullet order. The chicks survive the trip in the mail better the shorter the distance from you they are. I suggest you find a hatchery that is close to you and order threw them.

They said they guarantee 90%. If you get a wrong sex then I guess you're stuck with it or try to get a good home. Can't ship back.

Oh, I thought they were a hatchery, thank you for the information.

I've been looking for ones closer, but they don't sex the bantams just straight run. I will have to contact MPC again regarding the distance for travel, a concern. Thank you.

I can find you a close hatchery but would need to know how many you want or are willing to have. Anything that says pullets are already sexed as female. Straight run are the mix of male and female. Some hatcheries require a min order. You can also reduce loss, not pay shipping, and not have to worry about making it to the post office in time if you order threw a feed store. Tractor Supply has a form that you can order any breed they carry from. They also have pullet orders for almost all of their breeds. Min for them is 6 and they will receive them at their store and call you when they come in so you can pick them up.

Well, I just found out through MyPetChicken I would have to buy 9 birds according to my zip code, so that won't work for me. I only wanted 3. Oh well, I'll keep searching.

Have you tried going on your state thread to see if any of them have the breeds you want? Also, in the parking lot of TSC on Saturday mornings they have trade days where local people are selling their chicks with no limits. They have minimums for warmth to protect them during shipping.

Thank you. I did try one feed store and they don't carry Millie Fleur D'uccle bearded bantams. As I only want 3 birds, that makes it more difficult.
